Update on Temple Sanctuary
Renovation Progress
Reassessment regarding appropriate renovations to the Temple
Sanctuary and Worshiper’s Path is in its final stage. When new carpeting
was being installed in these areas we recognized it did not meet
aesthetic expectations. Further evaluations were completed recently that
revealed unforeseeable visual and safety issues on stairways and in the
Worshiper’s Path.
With the help of design firm SFS Architecture, the First Presidency
and the Temple Sanctuary Renovation Team are creating a holistic plan to
meet our criteria for this magnificent space. The complete scope and
timeline of needed changes are being determined. More information will
be shared as soon as it is available.
The Temple experience is important in the life and ministries of the
Community of Christ. We have extended the duration of renovations to
ensure the best experience for our members and friends. Costs will be
met by the Temple Endowment Fund. With each step in this process, we are
gracious for the generosity of contributors who have supported this fund
for the upkeep of the Temple and ongoing support for its ministries.
We continue to welcome visitors for modified tours and the Prayer for
Peace at the Temple each day as part of our mission to proclaim Jesus
Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace.
Thank you for your understanding and all that you do to share the
peace of Jesus Christ.
