Outreach International is pleased to announce it has been elected to Implementing Membership in Foods Resource Bank. Through partnership with the World Hunger Committee of the Community of Christ, Outreach International joins with a select number of Christian denominations and their agencies dedicated to alleviating hunger on a sustainable basis.

Foods Resource Bank (FRB) is a Christian, non-government, humanitarian organization committed to providing food security in the developing world through sustainable small-scale agricultural production, thereby allowing hungry people to know the dignity an d pride of feeding themselves. Implementing members are Christian denominations and their agencies. Supporting members provide inputs for food security and/or advocacy. Revenues to support food security programs are generated through community growing projects involving landowners, farmers, agribusinesses, and churches. FRB empowers its vision by assisting the formation of coalitions of landowners, mission-minded farmers, agricultural businesses, caring individuals, urban churches and communities to provide food security resources through growing projects. A growing project – supported by congregations, groups and families – is a specific portion of an American farm’s production which, when converted to cash, funds sustainable agriculture in countries with scarce food.

Outreach International, along with its FRB partner, the World Hunger Committee of the Community of Christ, is encouraging congregations and friends to sponsor a growing project. All funds derived from growing projects will be deposited in the Outreach

International account at Foods Resource Bank and used for food-related programs in areas where Outreach International works. Other implementing member institutions of Foods Resource Bank may choose to help fund those programs, multiplying the available resources.
