9/11 Interfaith Service
to Focus on Healing and Hope
The events of September 11, 2001, greatly impacted people around the world.
Many have struggled to find hope since then. Coming together as community is
an important step as we move toward healing.
Healing and hope is the focus of the interfaith service that will be
broadcast live via satellite across North America and on the Community of
Christ Web page on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:45 p.m. central time from the
Auditorium. President W. Grant McMurray will bring ministry along with
representatives of the Independence Ministerial Alliance and the Muslim and
Jewish faiths. A community choir will lead the gathering in song.
Community of Christ World Headquarters will participate in a variety of
activities throughout the day on September 11. An interactive family exhibit
focused on overcoming fear with hope, sponsored by the Children’s
Peace Pavilion, will precede the service. These exhibits will be used
during the day for school field trips. The Temple will be open all day for
people who wish to come for meditation or prayer. A special Daily
Prayer for Peace will be offered from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. in association
with the Independence Ministerial Alliance.
