Renewing Connections

Several years ago a family living in the Monte Sion squatter’s camp north of Lima, Peru, was baptized by one of our ministers. The family and Lima’s Filadelfia congregation lost contact.

Filadelfia young adults expressed a desire to find them and after much searching finally located the Vergara family, who were delighted to see them.

Supported by missionary project funds, Filadelfia members began weekly trips to Monte Sion. Over the years the mission expanded to include youth meetings, intergenerational worship, and activities.

Through the faithful and compassionate outreach of young adults, Community of Christ is reaching out to people who are thirsting for the good news of Jesus Christ.
