Hymnal Project

OPEN SUBMISSION PROCESS

Any text, tune, or combined text and tune, not currently in the four Community of Christ song books (see 2c below), may be submitted to the Hymnal Steering Team for consideration provided the source of the piece can be documented.

Submission Guidelines

1. Submissions will only be accepted for the collection in the following forms:

   a. Original work including musical notation on paper or electronically as a PDF (for music, the minimum requirement is the melody in musical notation with chords). Because of staffing limitations at International Headquarters, we cannot accept recordings unless accompanied by musical notation on paper or PDF. If you have an original piece for which you need musical notation, refer to the list of volunteers who can help you.

   b. Original text typed in poetic form (on paper or electronically as an MS-Word file or PDF).

   c. Good, readable copy of a song from another source (on paper or electronically as a PDF). (These copies are legal and considered “fair use” under the copyright law.)

    

2. Complete the Hymnal Project Open Submission form (Word document) for each piece you wish to have considered. Attach the form to the song.

   a. If you are submitting a song text, it is strongly suggested that you indicate your preference for the tune to be used with the text.

   b. If you are submitting a piece copied from another source, include a copy of the title page/copyright information of the source along with the piece. The team will only consider clear, legible copies. (These copies are legal and considered “fair use” under the copyright law.)

   c. You may only submit a piece from one of the four Community of Christ song books if you are suggesting a re-write or modification of the piece as it is currently published by the church. Make sure your changes are clearly marked and legible on the copy you submit.
    

3. There is no limit to the number you may submit.

Submission Dates

Submissions will be accepted from October 1, 2008 through April, 15, 2009. Submit your pieces and accompanying documentation to:
