Requests Originating with Outreach International
Africa Participatory Human Development Program: This funding
request is a supplement to that already granted by the World Hunger Committee in
October 2001. The request reflects increased opportunities presenting themselves
to local Human Development Specialists in several African countries. $10,000.
Bolivia Irrigation Project: This request proposes to fund a
small-scale irrigation system for raising potato crops in and around Cochabamba,
a municipality of Vacas, Bolivia, South America. $20,000.
Haiti School Lunch Program: This program provides one hot meal a
day to malnourished children attending schools sponsored by Haiti Community of
Christ. It is administered as an ongoing program through ODSM, the
operating agency for Outreach International in Haiti. $30,000.
Core Administrative Grant: This annual administrative grant from
World Hunger supports the screening and oversight of programs in the
headquarters office and continues to be vital in assisting Outreach to carry out
its mission. $36,000.
Requests Originating with World Accord
Programa Reconstruction Rural (PRR): This grant would continue
the support for PRR in the La Buena Fe area of Honduras. This will increase food
security and enhance the economic capacity of the rural poor in this area.
$17,414.
Mujeres en Accion (MeA): This project assists women in rural
Guatemala by helping them obtain microcredit for agricultural development and
informing them about better marketing strategies. $14,239.
Promoting Sustainable Participatory Enterprise (Philippines): This
ongoing program promotes economically and environmentally viable agricultural
production among participating farmers. $3,200.
Core Funding: This is an annual grant to support the
administrative overhead at World Accord. This allows more dollars to go directly
to field projects. $25,000.
It should be noted that all the World Accord grants are in US dollars, but
will be matched at a ratio of at least 3:1 by Canadian Government funds.
Direct Requests
CTWH, Chattanooga, Tennessee: This project provides basic support,
including food to hard living persons as they make life-changing decisions with
long-term consequences. $15,000.
Malawi Famine Relief: This grant is to purchase maize, a staple
food source, that has been drastically reduced because of torrential rains and
flooding in the Mzimba area. $14,000.
Bread for the World: This request is for general support of
Bread for the World’s public policy witness as well as to assist Bread for the
World Institute in the production of its annual publication, Hunger.
$35,000.
