Aid for Malawi and Andhra Pradesh
World Hunger Famine Relief
A World Hunger grant of $10,000 has been sent to Malawi for famine relief.
This grant will help meet critical, immediate hunger needs and help provide
maize seed in time for the upcoming rainy season when it will be planted for
the next season’s crop.
The request from the Malawi Church focused on aiding village communities
where the church is established. Malcolm Stephenson, Central Africa Mission
Center financial officer, shared that the situation in Malawi is extensive
with significant famine being reported. Needs there will continue to be
assessed.
Oblation Aid Follows Cyclones and Flooding
Heavy rains, flooding, and cyclones caused heavy losses and damage to
standing crops, homes, and roads in Andhra Pradesh, India. Many church members
have been affected. Ananda Rao reported in early November that although no
lives were lost, the homes of four pastors and more than 100 members were
extensively damaged.
A total of $5,850 from Oblation will help 117 families rebuild their homes
and lives. Ananda said this Oblation assistance shows recipients that their
sisters and brothers around the world “love and care, and are concerned about
them, and share in their time of disaster to help them.”
