Style Guide:
Community of Christ Nameplate
Overview
This guide provides specifications related to design, style, and
printing for Community of Christ publications. It is essential that
subsequent materials follow this guide so that they remain consistent with
the Community of Christ established identity system.
Please keep in mind that successful printed materials consist of more
than their editorial content and design. A smooth transition from concept to
printed piece hinges on a strong working relationship with your printer.
Seek out a printer who can provide counsel about the details of the printing
process and paper specifications.
Nameplate
The nameplate is a graphic that was created specifically for Community
of Christ. Letterforms have been modified and customized for optimum
visual appeal. The type has been converted to paths in Adobe Illustrator.
This nameplate can not be recreated. It is available in Mac and PC electronic formats from
Communications.
The primary color in which the nameplate should appear is Pantone 548
blue. For some design purposes it may instead appear in Pantone 1265 bronze.
The nameplate should only appear in black when color is not available.
Altering the appearance of this nameplate in any way damages the
consistency and strength of the identity program as a whole. For this
reason, do not do any of the following: break the nameplate into two
lines, put a line or stroke around the letterforms, put a drop shadow behind
it, put it inside a block or other shape, or superimpose it over a
photograph (unless the photo has a solid color space, e.g., a light blue
sky). Simplicity is the key to maintaining an elegant appearance.
The Community of Christ nameplate has complex letterforms. Plenty of
surrounding free space is needed so it does not appear crowded. There should
be space at least equal to the height of the letter “t” above and
below, and space equal to the letter “m” on both sides of the nameplate.
