World Ministries Mission Tithes Contribution Update—January 10, 2010

The following is an update on World Ministries Mission Tithes contributions. For more information and updates on how your contributions to World Ministries Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ, read the January Herald “Sharing Our Witness and Resources” section.

A. World Ministries Mission Tithes Update

The church received an estimated $780,000 in World Ministries Mission Tithes in November, 3 percent less than the budgeted income for the month. Because of strong contributions earlier in the fiscal year, meeting the annual budget of $9.8 million is within reach if contributors continue to give generously.

“Discipleship includes responding to God’s gift in Christ by giving consistently and generously, according to our full capacity to support local and world ministries. Such support is one of the most evident ways we express our spiritual commitment to the vision of Christ,” said President Steve Veazey in his address to the church on April 5, 2009.

How We Are Living Our Mission
• Graceland University (Lamoni, Iowa) and other campus ministries seek to nurture spiritual growth and exploration.
• Social service ministries at Centro de Houston congregation, Houston, Texas, serve the entire community.
• Full-time ministries are now available at a new congregation in Jaquimelles, Dominican Republic.

From Doctrine and Covenants 163:7d: we read: Scripture, prophetic guidance, knowledge, and discernment in the faith community must walk hand in hand to reveal the true will of God. Follow this pathway, which is the way of the Living Christ, and you will discover more than sufficient light for the journey ahead.
