World Ministries Mission Tithes Contribution Update—October
11, 2009
Suggested
worship service for this day.
The following is an update on World Ministries Mission Tithes contributions.
For more information and updates on how your contributions to World Ministries
Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ, read the October
Herald “Sharing Our Witness and Resources” section. For generosity stories
from Apostle Jim Slauter’s ministerial area, visit
www.CofChrist.org/generositystories.
A. World Ministries Mission Tithes Update
The church received an estimated $825,000 in World Ministries Mission Tithes
in August, a significant improvement over July. Two months into the new fiscal
year, we are 6 percent ahead of the budget of $9.8 million. Thank you very much
for your faithful giving.
How are we living our mission today?
o Love and acceptance in community grow in New Caledonia through World
Service Corps’ ministry without borders.
o Full-time field ministers in Peru partner with local initiatives to
distribute food and clothing to needy families, and travel across the
country’s mountains to begin the church planning process in remote villages.
o A church plant in Eudora, Kansas, is helping teenagers from a local
trailer park find unconditional acceptance in a new church family.

B. Congregational Ministries Mission Tithes Update: Local
The congregational financial officer should give an update about the
congregation’s budget at this time. Highlight positive things that have happened
in addition to items that need attention.

C. Blessing on the Offering
From Hebrews 4:12 (NRSV): we read: Indeed, the word of God is living and
active, sharper than any two–edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from
spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of
the heart.
Sharing our offerings equally between local and world ministries changes
lives around the world. Let us share in the prayer of blessing on our offering.
