Honduras—Plant Peace

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.

This story, Plant Peace, takes us to the Central and South America Mission Field. Apostle Carlos Enrique Mejia relates: In our calling to fulfill the Great Commission and seek souls for Christ, we see that every day we have to think about using resources that touch the lives of people and are designed for each field’s culture. In response to this need, a Spanish DVD, The Gift of God for You, is a recently designed tool that is a great blessing for the church in Latin America. Developed in partnership with the First Presidency and the church’s International Headquarters Multimedia Production Team, it is written and uses photographs, music and video specifically from people in the Central and South America Mission Field.

One missionary plan is to use The Gift of God for You with young adults in a pilot project in five congregations in Central America. We will use this DVD in association with “Seekers and Disciples” to evangelize and present the Community of Christ to other youth and friends. Though new, The Gift of God for You is already yielding positive results in for the church in Latin America. Your contributions to World Ministries Mission Tithes make all this possible. Resources are being produced, blessing the church and planting peace throughout the world. C. Blessing on Our Offering

From Doctrine and Covenants 163:3a we read: You are called to create pathways in the world for peace in Christ to be relationally and culturally incarnate. The hope of Zion is realized when the vision of Christ is embodied in communities of generosity, justice, and peacefulness.

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries is part of sharing the peace of Jesus Christ. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
