A. Disciples’ Generous Response Story: World

Alabama–Northwest Florida USA Mission Center—Victory through Love

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.

This story, Victory through Love, takes us to the Alabama–Northwest Florida USA Mission Center in Apostle Linda Booth’s Southern USA Mission Field. Linda relates: Damaja, with her sister KK and friend Autumn, are integral in the life of the Evergreen, Alabama, congregation. The young women serve in ministries of invitation and hospitality in the congregation by sharing Christ’s peace with friends and family, claiming victory through love.

So good are the young women in their ministry, that ten-year-old Damaja jumped at the chance to attend the recent Alabama–Northwest Florida invitational–ministries training event. She knew the training would help her provide even better ministry to the Evergreen congregation. Her wide eyes focused intensely on the speakers. Surrounded by seventies, elders, high priests, evangelists, pastors, and others, Damaja was at her best. When asked why she, the only youth there, chose to spend her Saturday this way, Damaja responded, “When I heard it was a day with all Community of Christ people from all over, I knew I wanted to be there. It’s like family.” Your contributions to World Ministries Mission Tithes support field ministers who provide ministerial training such as the Alabama–Northwest Florida event for members such as Damaja. C. Blessing on Our Offering

From Doctrine and Covenants 163:4c we read: Let the educational and community development endeavors of the church equip people of all ages to carry the ethics of Christ’s peace into all arenas of life. Prepare new generations of disciples to bring fresh vision to bear on the perplexing problems of poverty, disease, war, and environmental deterioration. Their contributions will be multiplied if their hearts are focused on God’s will for creation.

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries is part of sharing the peace of Jesus Christ. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
