Caribbean, Mexico and Texas Mission Field—Live Like Jesus
Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and
world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your
contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.
This story, Live Like Jesus, takes us to Apostle Rick Maupin’s Caribbean,
Mexico, and Texas Mission Field. John Glaser relates: As coordinator for the
Hispanic Leadership Development Project, I have been able to see the fulfillment
of the church’s commitment within the Latino community. The generosity of the
Saints permitted us to engage a group of more that 25 Hispanic leaders as those
who will help to guide and grow the church in the United States and Canada. This
pilot project began in the summer of 2006 and will last three years. During this
time, two groups of students will meet ten times in Los Angeles, California, or
Weslaco, Texas, and receive instruction similar to that of the Co-Missioned
Pastor Initiative.
We have already seen the full-time employment of one of our students by the
church and we hope to have others in positions where they also can serve in
instrumental roles. The growing Latino population continues to challenge our
ability to meet the demand for Hispanic ministries. Nevertheless, the church
continues to demonstrate its desire and ability to reach out and to walk with
Latinos in addressing the struggles that they face as they try to live like
Jesus. This type of ministry is only possible through the generosity of the
Saints and their ability to envision the peace of Jesus Christ in the lives of
its Latino members and friends. These are truly wonderful times for our church.
Thank you for responding faithfully by sharing so very generously to World
Ministries Mission Tithes.—John Glaser, director, Hispanic Leadership Program

From Psalm 31: 5 (NRSV) we read: Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have
redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.
Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries changes
lives locally and around the world. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for
our offering.
