A. Disciples’ Generous Response Story: World

Kiev, Ukraine—Through a Child’s Voice

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.

This story, Through a Child’s Voice, takes us to Kiev, Ukraine, in the Europe Mission Center. Anatoliy Huralsky relates: The children of the Huralsky and Glushkovetska families in Kiev are little missionaries for the Community of Christ. Daniel, Angela, Sophia, Christina, and Bogdan are all members (Bogdan is only five so not yet baptized) of the church. These children form the singing group called “Oasis of Peace.” With Maria Glushkovetska and I, they go from place to place, from school to school, singing about the peace of Jesus Christ and the hope for the transformation of the world into God’s kingdom of peace. They stand on street corners and sing to gathering crowds who then listen to the witness of the gospel of peace and come to know the Community of Christ.

Their ministry is supported by your generous contributions to World Ministries Mission Tithes. They are some of the youngest witnesses for Christ in the church. Within the last year they were part of the team that planted the church in Odessa, Ukraine. Recently Angela said, “We thank God the members and friends of the church around the world bless us each day with their gifts so we can bless others through our singing and witnessing.” These young people are committed to sharing Christ’s peace with the world. Your generous response to World Ministries Mission Tithes make all this possible in Ukraine. Thank you for responding faithfully by sharing so very generously.—Anatoliy Huralsky, Kiev, Ukraine

C. Blessing on Our Offering

From I Corinthians 1:4 (NRSV) we read: I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus.

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries changes our lives and those who receive the blessings from it. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
