The following is an update on World Ministries Mission Tithes contributions. For stories about what’s happening in Apostle Jim Slauter's ministerial area, read the February Herald “Sharing in the Field” section.
We have two items of good news to report. The final total for contributions
to World Ministries Mission Tithes for fiscal year 2008, which ended June 30,
was $10.4 million, significantly higher than the estimate we reported earlier,
and exactly what was needed to balance the budget. We offer our gratitude to our
faithful, regular contributors for your generosity throughout the year.
The second piece of good news is that the church received an estimated $825,000
in World Ministries Mission Tithes in August 2008, more than making up for a
shortfall in July. The budget for the new fiscal year, which began July 1, is
$10.5 million. We are one percent ahead of the goal two months into the fiscal
year. Thank you!
Here are a few of the missionary opportunities your contributions of $10.5
million support around the world:
Thank you for responding faithfully by sharing so very generously.
The congregational financial officer should give an update about the congregation’s budget at this time. Highlight positive things that have happened in addition to items that need attention.

From Philippians 4:4 – 7 (NRSV) we read: Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries changes our lives and those who receive the blessings from it. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
