Scriptural Guidance

So God created humankind in his image…male and female he created them. God blessed them…—Genesis 1:27–28 NRSV

[And the Lord said to Abraham,] I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing…in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. —Genesis 12:2–3 NRSV

Jacob called for his sons to gather around him blessed each one calling them by name—giving each the blessing appropriate to him. —Genesis 49:1

Then he led [the disciples] out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. —Luke 24:50 NRSV
