eTithing FAQ

What is eTithing?

ETithing is Community of Christ’s online platform for members and friends in the US to give Mission Tithes. Giving is safe, easy, and flexible, using desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Make one-time or recurring contributions by bank withdrawal, and with credit and debit cards. When you set up a recurring contribution, you decide when giving starts and the frequency of recurrence (weekly, every two weeks, bimonthly, or monthly).

Contribute anonymously or create an account. With an account, you can:

  • View your giving history.
  • Add or edit bank account information.
  • Add a credit or debit card.
  • Change credit or debit card information.
  • Manage your recurring contribution.
  • Make a one-time gift.

Set up a new password:

  1. Visit https://www.cofchrist.org/give.
  2. Click on the US flag.
  3. Click on “Forgot password.”
  4. Follow the prompts.

How do I contribute to Local Mission Tithes and Worldwide Mission Tithes?

  1. Visit https://www.cofchrist.org/give.
  2. Click on the US flag.
  3. Sign into your account or click “Create An Account” to create a new eTithing account, or click “Give Without an Account” if you do not want an account.

  5. Follow the prompts to complete the giving process.

Why isn't my congregation listed on eTithing?

Congregations that do not accept electronic contributions are not listed on eTithing.

If your congregation is not listed on eTithing, you can give by selecting "Worldwide Mission Tithes" from the "Give To" drop-down menu.

If your congregation would like to begin receiving electronic contributions, have your congregational financial officer contact Fiscal Services at FiscalServices@CofChrist.org or (816) 833-1000 ext. 1391.

How do I give if my congregation isn't listed?

If your congregation is not listed on eTithing, you can give by selecting "Worldwide Mission Tithes" from the "Give To" drop-down menu.

If your congregation would like to begin receiving online contributions, have your congregational financial officer contact Fiscal Services at FiscalServices@CofChrist.org or (816) 833-1000, ext. 1391.

I'd like to add more designations for giving to my congregation. What should I do?

Contact your Congregational Financial Officer, who will work with Fiscal Services to add designations (purposes).

Why am I receiving emails from SecureGive?

SecureGive hosts eTithing.

SecureGive notifies eTithing users any time a contribution was successfully made to Community of Christ or if a transaction failed.

What happens to my recurring contribution if I transfer to a new congregation?

To change your local contribution to a different congregation, delete your current recurring gift and then create a new recurring gift using your new congregation.

Can I give to more than one congregation?

You can only contribute to one congregation at a time via eTithing. You must give to the congregation where your membership is officially recorded.

When will my eTithing contribution be withdrawn from my account?

Users with eTithing accounts can choose when their giving starts and the frequency of recurrence (weekly, every two weeks, bimonthly, or monthly).

The default withdrawal date for former Pre-Authorized Transfer contributors is the 15th of each month. You can log into your eTithing account to change the withdrawal date and frequency of recurrence.

Will I get a tax receipt for my eTithing contributions?

Yes.  If you are a member of a USA congregation and your eTithing gift is given through a congregation, your eTithing contributions will be included on the Contributor’s Statement that you receive from your Congregational Financial Officer.  If you are not a member of a congregation or if you give only to the Worldwide Mission Tithes option instead of through a congregation, you will receive a Contributor’s Statement in the mail from International Headquarters.

What happened to my Pre-Authorized Transfer?

All contributions made by credit cards, debit cards, and bank withdrawal are now processed through eTithing.

In June 2016, Fiscal Services created an eTithing account for each PAT contributor and moved their contributions to this system. A temporary password was sent to each PAT contributor. See below for instructions to change your temporary password.

I'm a former PAT participant. How do I change my temporary eTithing password?

  1. Visit www.CofChrist.org/Give and click on the US flag.
  2. Enter your phone number and temporary password and click “Login.”
  3. Click “My Account” in the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Click “Account Information” in the top right corner of the screen.
  5. Change your temporary password in the Password section.
  6. Click “Save Changes.”

I'm a former PAT participant. What if I lose my temporary password?

Contact Fiscal Services at FiscalServices@CofChrist.org or (816) 833-1000 ext. 1391.

Can I still give by PAT?

Members can make recurring contributions by bank withdrawal using eTithing.

When you set up a recurring contribution, you decide when giving will start and the frequency of your recurring contribution (weekly, every two weeks, bimonthly, or monthly).

Who do I contact if I would like to speak with someone about eTithing?

For questions about your eTithing account, contact Fiscal Services at FiscalServices@CofChrist.org or (816) 833-1000, ext. 1391.
