Other responses:
Was A Church; he is now my grandfather (b/c he ended up
marrying my grandmother) but originally he was a man
from church who really knew how to listen; Spiritual
Director; best friend from college. |
|
|
2. Why that person? |
|
Because they love me
unconditionally. |
|
Because we've been
through so much together. I think I wouldn't feel
comfortable sharing with someone in my own congregation,
but through a camp environment, I could share more
openly. |
|
trust |
|
Anyways, the reasons I
feel comfortable talking to these people (and they are
different for different ones) are because either 1) I
feel listened too and supported with no judgment and
lots of love. or 2) I feel like that person can
challenge me and speak truth and wisdom into my life and
my situation. In both, I need to feel loved and
supported, but I sometimes I don't want to be judged and
sometimes I do want to be challenged, inspired, and
called to change (in an encouraging way). |
|
My spouse because they
love me no matter what...even when it is difficult. My
childhood friend because they have seen me through my
best and worst since we were 1 and 2 and they are still
here supporting me! |
|
BECAUSE SHE IS NON
JUDGMENTAL AND OFFERS GOOD ADVISE |
|
Because they are more
than just family, they are also my friend. Plus, she has
to love me and support - she's my mom :-) |
|
Listens first. Honest
with me but not unkind. |
|
Have great relationships
with them that are full of trust and support |
|
I know I won't be
judged. |
|
Because I know that
they have my best interest at heart. |
|
These are people that
I chose to enter into relationships with. It wasn't
by fate, and I feel confident that they are solid
people with good hearts. |
|
trust, they will be
around for a long time. |
|
Because they are real
with me, love me/care about me, listen to me, & give
me Godly advice. |
|
There is no judgment. |
|
I can trust them and
know they care about me. Also, I know they won't
judge me for what I share. |
|
know they won't
judge, and will know what to say |
|
She listens without
judgment and does not invalidate my thoughts and
feelings even if they are at times irrational. She
also acknowledges that my goals don't fit the
cookie-cutter guidelines that society presents and
encourages me to persist despite that because that's
where my heart yearns to go. |
|
because we've been
through everything together and so they know the
back story on why I might feel or act a certain way. |
|
they allow me to be
me -- everything about me, no expectations except to
be honest and allow them to be genuine, too |
|
I don't feel like if
I shared with these two people I have in mind, that
they would love me any less. |
|
We interact on a
daily basis, building the relationship and trust. |
|
I was able to show my
true self and they still loved me...in my worst and
best moments. |
|
We have so much in
common and developed a close, lasting friendship
built on similar life situations, similar beliefs,
and similar spirituals journeys. These are the ties
that bind . . . |
|
History of feeling
