What They're Up to:

JC's Rockin' New Year's Eve. 2008 Annual New Years' Party

Activities included: Volleyball, Basketball, Ping-Pong, Foosball, Video Games (like Mario Sports on Wii and Mario Kart on Nintendo 64 - both projected onto screens creating a big picture), board games, music, food, and fellowship.

We suggested everyone bring a snack and had food set out in the cafe area of the FLC. As people came in, we snapped their photo in front of a New Year's eve background (and then e-mailed everyone the pictures later in the week). We also had an outreach project that people could participate in throughout the night. We wrote notes to residents in the Groves, a retirement community, wishing them a happy New Year, good health in the coming year, etc. Just before midnight we all gathered around and watched the ball-drop on the big screen. We followed that up with a little devotion / discussion where people could share blessings from the past year and hopes for the new year.

Some people came and went throughout the night, others stay the whole time - all in all, we had over 50 people and everyone had a good time. This was the second year we've done this, and we're planning to continue it as an annual event. We hope it continues to grow each year as the word spreads.

VOLUME
An Emerging Congregation of Young Adults
 Independence, MO USA

About Volume:
Volume is an official Community of Christ emerging congregation that consists mainly of young adults and like-minded people. If you attend a Volume worship, you will find a stark difference in the type of worship experience you receive when compared to traditional worship services. Live band music, rich multimedia, relevant topic discussions, food and drinks... Volume does its best to provide the most modern and relevant ministry to those who are looking for an alternative to traditional worship.

Planned Activities:
We have a worship on the first Sunday of every month, 7:00pm in the basement of Stone Church. Occasionally we hold the worship at a different location and time, so be sure to check the website. Volume has grown very quickly over the past year and we are planning to have worships twice a month to keep up with the demand for activities like this. We'll be sure to announce when this happens, so stay tuned.
