Nancy Noe Hershey, a native of Butler, Missouri, graduated from Graceland College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. At Graceland she studied piano and played the flute. During her high school and college years she studied organ with Bethel Knoche. Because of her interest in children, music and education, she taught piano for the Music/Arts Institute for ten years. She was co-director of the Independence Community Association for the Arts Multiple Piano Festival from 1992 through 1998 and a coach for the Festival since 1980. She is an organist at Walnut Gardens Community of Christ in Independence and has been a member of the Auditorium and Temple organ staff since 1994. She currently studies organ with William T. Stewart. As a member of the American Guild of Organists, she holds the Service Playing Certificate. Her special interests include organ duets and Scandinavian organ music.
