Words for the World
Publishing the Gospel in the Languages of God's People

The World Church Leadership Council has announced a new program that offers opportunities for designated giving, allowing members and friends to contribute directly to specified projects.

WHAT:	Words for the World! Publishing the Gospel in the Languages of God’s People is the first designated-giving initiative for Community of Christ, funding the printing and publication of resources in more than 14 languages, for more than 100,000 people, in more than 26 countries.
GOAL:	$120,000 or more will fund three to four resources per language, equating to more than 60 and as many as 80 total resources.
WHY:	Significant numbers of our sisters and brothers who do not speak English have no published church resources, such as church school curriculum, hymnals, Doctrine and Covenants, and priesthood training resources. Beyond that, there is a need for culturally relevant materials that will inspire, educate, and give voice to longstanding members and seekers in the many nations where the church is present. Words for the World is offered in memory of Ed Guy.
WHERE:	Translation and writing are underway in French for Belgium, Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, French Polynesia, Haiti, Ivory Coast, New Caledonia, and Switzerland; in Spanish for Bolivia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Spain, and the United States; in Telugu, Kwi, and Soura for India; in Tahitian for French Polynesia; in Russian for Russia and Ukraine; in Portuguese for Brazil; in Chewa for Malawi; in Chibemba for Zambia; in Efik for Nigeria; in Lingala for Democratic Republic of the Congo; and in Swahili for Kenya.
HOW:	In the United States, look for Words for the World envelopes in your Mission Tithes offering envelope packets. In other countries, write “Words for the World” on the World Ministries portion of your envelope.
WHEN:	Words for the World contributions will be collected in December, January, March, April, and May. Printing and publication of resources will begin during the next two years.
