The World Church Leadership Council announces a new designated giving initiative, Places of Peace: Russia to Ukraine.

What:
Places of Peace: Russia to Ukraine
is a designated giving initiative that allows members and friends to share their blessings with five Community of Christ congregations in Russia and Ukraine. To help provide these sacred spaces, the World Church Leadership Council agreed to raise funds to purchase buildings while Russia and Ukraine church members provide much of the labor to renovate.

Goal:
Our goal is to raise $330,000 to purchase and renovate buildings for five Community of Christ congregations in Russia and Ukraine who do not have worship spaces. Contributions received above the goal will be used for additional Russia and Ukraine congregations and to provide ministries of peacemaking in those countries.

Why:
You are called to create pathways in the world for peace in Christ to be relationally and culturally incarnate. The hope of Zion is realized when the vision of Christ is embodied in communities of generosity, justice, and peacefulness.—Doctrine and Covenants 163:3a

Where:
The churches include: Novosibirsk, Moscow, Voronezh (Russia); Odessa and Kiev (Ukraine).

How:

When:
Places of Peace: Russia to Ukraine contributions will be received September 2008 through January 2009.
