As communicated in the May 3, 2011, Letter of Counsel Regarding the Presiding Quorums, Apostle James E. Slauter will be granted release from the Council of Twelve Apostles and early retirement from World Church appointment August 1, 2011. A Letter of Counsel Regarding the Presiding Quorums, dated May 11, 2011, shared with the church that Barbara L. Carter is called to serve as apostle designate. In response to these Letters of Counsel, the First Presidency is pleased to announce the following assignments. All of these assignments will be effective August 1, 2011.
