Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative
What are the benefits to congregations and pastors?
The Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative is offered to congregations and
their pastors who sense God’s divine call to develop new skills,
insights, and understandings. This initiative will
- help pastors lead congregations to a clearer sense of vision,
purpose, and fidelity to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- guide congregations as they create a missionary witness through
invitation, hospitality, and personal testimony.
- offer pastors leadership education, training, ministerial
formation, financial support, spiritual care, and mentoring
resources.
- increase Community of Christ pastors’ tenures of service.
- attract leaders from the next generation of disciples.
How will this be achieved?
Co-missioned pastors will be equipped for mission in four primary
ways.
- A holistic curriculum will be offered by the Community of Christ
Seminary, including spiritual formation and renewal, theological
education, and practical skills development.
- Three years of ongoing ministerial formation will be conducted
annually in a weekend retreat and one five-day venue.
- Mentoring will be an integral part of the program.
- A modest annual stipend will be provided to support participants.
