Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative

What are the benefits to congregations and pastors?

The Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative is offered to congregations and their pastors who sense God’s divine call to develop new skills, insights, and understandings. This initiative will

  • help pastors lead congregations to a clearer sense of vision, purpose, and fidelity to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • guide congregations as they create a missionary witness through invitation, hospitality, and personal testimony.
  • offer pastors leadership education, training, ministerial formation, financial support, spiritual care, and mentoring resources.
  • increase Community of Christ pastors’ tenures of service.
  • attract leaders from the next generation of disciples.

How will this be achieved?

Co-missioned pastors will be equipped for mission in four primary ways.

  1. A holistic curriculum will be offered by the Community of Christ Seminary, including spiritual formation and renewal, theological education, and practical skills development.
  2. Three years of ongoing ministerial formation will be conducted annually in a weekend retreat and one five-day venue.
  3. Mentoring will be an integral part of the program.
  4. A modest annual stipend will be provided to support participants.
