Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative
What is the Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative (CPI)?
The Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative (CPI) is a five-year ministerial
program designed to enhance the ministry of 100 bi-vocational pastors in
Canada and the United States.
This initiative requires the congregation and World Church to
co-mission with pastors who are willing to serve for several years in
that capacity and who sense the divine call to increase the health and
vitality of their congregations.
Pastor application will be made in partnership with the pastor’s
congregation and in consultation with the local mission center
president. Applications are available through the Council of Twelve and
on the Web site at www.CofChrist.org/co-missioned.
The first group of twenty-five pastors began this initiative in
December 2004. Additional groups of twenty-five will launch their
initiatives in spring 2005, autumn 2005, and spring 2006.
To be successful, the co-missioned pastor must be fully supported by
a congregation willing to be accountable in its discipleship and
supportive of the pastor not only in word but also in action.
This five-year program is fully funded through the generous response
of one family of committed disciples. It supports the church’s Mission
to North America.
