Airport Shuttle Service

Graceland University will provide shuttle service for workshop participants flying in and out of Kansas City International Airport (MCI). The cost is $50 roundtrip. The shuttle will leave the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) terminals at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27. The return trip to Kansas City International Airport (MCI) will be Saturday, August 2, at 8:00 a.m.

To reserve a space, contact Brad Carr, (641) 784-5233, or e-mail bcarr@graceland.edu no later than July 18. When making reservations for the shuttle, you will need to provide the following information: airline and flight number, time of arrival/departure, full name, and telephone numbers (day and evening).

Please note that Lamoni is 120 miles from the Kansas City airport and is approximately a two-and-a-half-hour drive. Keep this in mind when making your airline and shuttle reservations.

Air-Conditioned Housing

There is limited air-conditioned housing space on campus. Get your registration in early if you have a health condition that requires air-conditioned housing. All air-conditioned rooms are double occupancy. Housing will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bedding is provided for those staying in campus housing. Bedding includes two sheets, one pillowcase, a light blanket, and a towel set. You are encouraged to bring your own pillow. However, a new pillow can be provided for an additional $5. Please indicate this need on your registration form.

If you plan to suggest a roommate, please be sure that both of you indicate the other person as your choice of roommate, and send the registration forms together in the same envelope or faxed together at the same time.

Class Schedules

We will make every attempt to accommodate your first choice for class selections in each of the Class Blocks. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment or an instructor becoming unavailable. Some classes may have limited space available based on classroom space, equipment, or instructor preference. You are encouraged to enroll early. It is important for you to select an alternate for each Class Block time period. Confirmation letters will be sent on receipt of your registration. Notices of schedule changes will also be sent except for changes that occur within ten days of the event.

Reading Assignments

You will note that many of the courses offered at this year’s Congregational LIFE Workshop are requiring students to read texts and other listed assignments. It is expected that when you enroll for a course, you will purchase a copy of the texts assigned to your class selections and complete reading and reflection assignments before class starts. In addition, each participant is expected to obtain a copy of The Phoenix Affirmations: A New Vision for the Future of Christianity by Eric Elnes (2006). ISBN 978-0787985783. This resource will be used during Living Room Group sessions.

Herald House resources are available for order online at www.HeraldHouse.org or by e-mail at sales@HeraldHouse.org or by calling Customer Service at 1-800-767-8181.

Living Room Groups

Formation Experiences

As an extension of the formal classroom experiences, the Formation Experiences are times when participants can engage in more skill-based learning or times focused on prayer, journaling, lectio divina, or artistic expression meant to revive learner and minister.
