Carlos Enrique Mejia is a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles, the lead missionary quorum of the Community of Christ. He is assigned to the Central and South America Mission Field which includes the Central America Mission Center, Brazil Mission Center, Southern Cone South America Mission Center and Northwest South America Mission Center. He is also responsible for Hispanic Ministries.

Ordained as a member of the Council of Twelve in March 2007, his past assignments include serving as the missionary coordinator for the Centro de Misión de Centroamérica and as an assistant to the mission center’s president and financial officer.

A graduate of Perito Mercantil y Contador Publico, Carlos attended the Instituto Alfonzo Guillen Zelaya, Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He has studied theology and human relations at various seminaries and completed coursework in the Community of Christ MEADS (Ministerial Education and Discipleship Studies) and Temple School programs. Carlos has also participated in numerous International Leaders Meetings (ILM) held annually at Community of Christ International Headquarters.

Carlos was president of a committee to promote secondary education in Santa Barbara, and has served in various education organizations in San Pedro Sula. Prior to working full-time for the church, Carlos was a supervisor of road construction for Condinco Tecnisa in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He also served as a pastor in several Community of Christ congregations.

Carlos has traveled throughout the United States of America, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Honduras. His hobbies include football (soccer) and camping, and he enjoys spending time with his family. Carlos and his wife Carmen Castillo have two daughters, Carmen Eloisa Mejia C. and Karla Corina Mejia C.
