DALE E. LUFFMAN
Dale E. Luffman is a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles, the lead
missionary quorum of the Community of Christ. He is assigned to Ecumenical and
Interfaith Relationships, Disciple Formation Resource Consultant, Theological
Education, Singles Ministry, and Special Missionary Projects as assigned by President of the
Council of Twelve in consultation with the First Presidency.
Ordained an apostle at the 1994 World Conference, Dale has been
a full-time minister since 1979. Previous assignments have included the Central
USA Mission Field, Great Lakes USA Mission Field, Northeast USA and Canada
Mission Field, Northwest/South Central Asia Field, Lamoni and Kirtland Stakes,
North Atlantic States Region, and Campus Ministries.
A native of Woodburn, Oregon, he graduated from Woodburn High School. He
received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Mt. Angel College, Mt.
Angel, Oregon, and a master’s of education in counseling from Lewis and Clark
College, Portland, Oregon. Dale has also been awarded a master’s of theology
degree from the Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey, and a
doctor of ministry degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. While at Mt. Angel College, he was selected for Who's Who Among
American Universities and Colleges.
Prior to accepting full-time ministerial responsibility, Dale was a child
development consultant and an elementary school teacher and counselor in Aurora,
Oregon, and Forest Grove, Oregon.
Dale serves on the Faith and Order Commission of the National Council of
Churches representing Community of Christ. He is a member of the Society of
Biblical Literature, the Academy of Homiletics, and the Society for the Study of
Christian Spirituality.
In 1992, Dale was named in Who's Who Among American Religious Leaders.
Appointed as an adjunct faculty member of Graceland University in January 1993,
Dale is an instructor in practical theology for the Community of Christ Seminary
affiliated with Graceland University.
