Call to Prayer

It is good to greet you here in
this sacred place to worship. May the spirit of the Lord be with us as
we pray in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace. In addition,
each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will remember the people of Luxembourg in our prayers. Located
in Western Europe, Luxembourg attained full independence in 1864.
Although small in size, Luxembourg's central location, political
stability, and multilingual population, along with tax incentives, have
proved advantageous to it as a financial center. Luxembourg is a staunch
defender of the rights of small states within the Union.
As we gather in worship, may God plant in us the sacredseeds of “agape,
“ sacrificial love, and make us over in the image of Jesus, the Prince
of Peace. |

Let the church be admonished that the times
are portentous and demand faithful adherence to the faith and the work
of the church, that humankind may be blessed by and find peace in those
religiously social reforms and relationships which have been divinely
imposed as a great task of achievement. |

Prayer for Peace by Ralph Holmes,
Nottinghamshire, England |
| |
Our most gracious God, as we meet together to bring our
devotions, we praise your Holy Name and give thanks for your abiding
presence in our lives.
We live in a beautiful world, created for our pleasure and joy, but
because of sicknesses of mind and body; because of selfishness and
greed, there is physical, mental and spiritual hunger and poverty
abroad.
We pray not only for the absence of conflict but also for the presence
of your Spirit among the nations. We look to you, O God, as our source
of strength and power to show us the way of peace, that as instruments
in your hands, we, your people, may be used as agents of peace.
May there be a greater understanding by those in authority of the needs
of your people everywhere; that your Holy Spirit might empower and stir
them to strive towards unity under the banner of your love. Through
Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
O God, you are the way of peace. Come into the
brokenness of our lives and our land with your healing love, and may we
be open to that love. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Help us to be willing to bow before you in true repentance, and to bow
to one another in real forgiveness. By the fire of your Holy Spirit,
melt our hard hearts and consume the pride and prejudice which separate
us. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Be with the people of Luxembourg. Fill them and us, O Lord, with your
perfect love which casts out fear and bind us together in Divine unity. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We thank you and praise you for the gift of our Lord Jesus, for love
that sustains us, for wisdom that directs us, and for desire that
beckons us toward peace in our world. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
O God, help us to continue to engage in
spiritual transformation as we build the peaceable kingdom on earth. We
pray for our church leaders who are preparing for World Conference in
April. May we be open to the Holy Spirit as we join our hearts and minds
to seek your will and direction. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
