Gathering in Silence
Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |

Welcome, and we greet you today
in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Each day in this Temple
dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our
world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will remember the people of the Netherlands in our prayers.
Located in Western Europe, the Netherlands is a modern, industrialized
nation and a large exporter of agricultural products. The country was a
founding member of NATO and the European C, and participated in the
introduction of the euro in 1999. For several decades natural gas
production has subsidized a welfare system, but the 1980s – lean years
for petroleum producers – left a formidable deficit and unemployment.
Funds are needed for continued flood-control efforts and a plan that
calls for cleaning up the Rhine and the North Sea and combating damage
to forests by acid rain. By 2010 the Netherlands hopes to have reduced
environmental pollution by 70 percent.
Blessed is the name of our God who is mindful of us as we worship in
faith and joy. |

| Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants 85:38c |
| |
Above all things, cloth yourselves with the
bonds of charity, as with a mantle, which is the bond of perfectness and
peace; pray always, that you may not faint until I come; behold, and lo,
I will come quickly, and receive you unto myself. |

Prayer for Peace by Frances Jones, Lubbock,
Texas |
| |
Almighty God and Creator of All, we come here to honor
and praise you for your never ending love and patience. Let there be a
love of peace so strong in your children gathered here that it will
sweep across nations and touch each of your children. We pray that your
influence will give us a desire for study and unselfish living with one
another.
Let the Temple be the physical means by which people can come to learn
what they can do to influence others toward peace. Together, with your
help, we will accomplish the goal of peace you have set before us.
Encourage our faithfulness, kindness, and self-control, to influence and
contribute to being your peacemakers. Help us so that we will be more
loving and will let your Holy Spirit control our thoughts and actions.
In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
God of all that is, all that ever was, and all that
shall come to be: We praise you for your son, the Prince of Peace, and
his message of peace he came to share with us. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We give thanks for this time of remembering your goodness, your loving
care, your guidance and your plan for all your creation to be at peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Forgive us when we have not remembered, and have been guilty of actions
and thoughts that did not promote peace. We desire to be your people of
peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
This day, O God, we remember the nation of the Netherlands and its
people who work daily for peace and acceptance and justice. Be near them
to bless and guide, we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We would also remember the concerns and petitions of those gathered here
this day. Guide us, we pray, that we will not add to the problems of the
world, but will be part of the solution. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.

May your name be praised, O God of all nations as we strive to be your
instruments of peace. Amen. |

| Sending Forth |
| |
We conclude our service today with ministry of music. We
invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for
as long as you may wish.
May the God who is peace, the God who is hope, and the God who is
concerned with all creation, guide us and bless us as we go forth to
serve the Divine purpose created in us. Amen. |
