Welcome to this time of prayer
for peace. Each day in this Temple, dedicated to the pursuit of peace,
we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for
a different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Thailand in our prayers. Located in
Southeastern Asia, Thailand is the only southeast Asian country never to
have been taken over by a European power. Thailand has not escaped
military coups however, with more than a dozen since 1932. A bloodless
revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. Resentment against
leaders of the most recent coup, in 1991, sparked demonstrations by a
pro-democracy movement. Reforms did take place, and a new constitution
went into effect in 1997. The present government is made up of a
seven-party coalition whose objectives are prudent economic management
and political reform. The Thais are renowned for their friendliness and
hospitality to strangers.
"Come Lord Jesus, enter into our hearts and minds as we worship together
in your name. Amen." |

| Scripture Reading: Matthew 12:18-21 NIV |
| |
“Here is my servant, Jesus, whom I have
chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight: I will put my spirit on Him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry
out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will
not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads
justice to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope.” |

Our Lord of Love and Life,
We thank You for our very being, and for the influence of Your son in
our lives.
Your love and continuing tender direction give us joy and hope!
We thank you for the fellowship within the Church,
within the larger fellowship of Christians,
and within the fellowship of our denomination world-wide!
In our hurried and perplexing daily lives, sometimes Peace seems only a
dream.
Not only are the nations of the world lacking in Peace,
but within our own fellowship we lack peace.
We often lack Peace because of our differences.
But Your Love formed us...and Your Love unites us!
Help us to know how great Your Love ...
no matter the differences of our cultures
--no matter the color of our skin
--or the color of our life experiences
Your love surrounds us!
We have names for each other...names of identification or location
We call each other "fundamentalist" or "liberal."
We have barriers of place, and barriers of race, and barriers of
thought.
Our Lord, help us to know that wherever or whatever we are...
You are our Lord!
Help us to realize that it is Jesus who is our latch pin, our way,
our light
...that it is Christ who brings Peace
and it is Christ above all who unites us
Together, unite us in praise and worship, service and love!
In His Holy Name, we pray. Amen. |

| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We rejoice when one step is made toward peace between nations, but know
the journey is long and the steps are many. On this day, please hear our
prayers concerning the nation and the people of Thailand. May they be
encouraged to continue their quest for justice for all people. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We lament the causes of injustice and seek enlightenment that we may
understand better our part in peace for the world. We confess that we
are less than you created us to be and humbly ask forgiveness. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We would not forget the need for peace in ourselves, our families, our
nation, and our church. Hear our concerns, we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|

This day, in response to your call, we offer ourselves as instruments of
peace in this world. Amen. |
