Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |

Welcome today to this sacred
place. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we
pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Monaco in our prayers. Located in
western Europe, economic development was spurred in the late 19th
century with a railroad linkup to France and the opening of a casino.
The principality's mild climate and splendid scenery have made Monaco
world famous as a tourist and recreation center. Prince Rainier's rule
has modernized Monaco and weaned it from its dependence on gambling
revenue. Tourism is now the backbone of the economy. The principality
was admitted to the United Nations as a full member in 1993.
As we gaze on the candle of Christ's peace, let the light radiate into
our hearts and minds so that we may seek peace in our daily lives. |

Take note of my words, Adonai!
Understand my sighs!
Listen to my cry for help, my Ruler, my God—
for it is to you that I pray.
Adonai, every morning you hear my voice,
every morning I put my requests before you, and I wait.
Let all who take refuge in you
be glad and rejoice forever.
Protect them,
so that those who love your Name
will rejoice in you.
As for the just, Adonai,
you surround them with the shield of your will. |

Prayer for Peace by Lucy Gulick, Alma,
Michigan |
| |
Great Lord of the universe, hear our humble, contrite
plea. Still the madness raging in our warring hearts; give strength and
courage for nobler aims to foil the devil's arts.
Cause us to temper earthly wants with a grace that stems the tears of
each hurting child of every clime and race; that frees our spirits for
loftier flight to realms of regal quietude before Thy Holy Face.
Thy courts ring loud with joy and praise in the presence of Thyself. In
ways we do not YET grasp, bring peace; peace that subdues pride and
self; that secures our wavering souls in Thy warm and everlasting
embrace.
In Christ's holy name we pray, Amen. |

We pray for this community, the nations, and especially for the people
and the nation of Monaco. May they continue on the path of peace. We
pray for all there who are victims of hunger, fear, injustice and
oppression. |
| The People Pray in Silence |

We pray for peace and unity among the leaders of religions and nations,
and for all who work for justice, freedom, and peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |

We pray for the special needs of those
gathered here. Guide us, we humbly ask. We confess to you our
shortcomings. In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown,
things done or left undone. |
| The People Pray in Silence |

Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
