Invitation

It is good to welcome you to this sacred place. Let us worship in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace as we pray to God for peace in our world. Each day we pray for a different country.

Today we will hold up the people of Luxembourg in our prayers. Located in Western Europe, Luxembourg attained full independence in 1864. Although small in size, Luxembourg's central location, political stability, and multilingual population, along with tax incentives, have proved advantageous to it as a financial center. Foreign investment in light manufacturing and services has offset the decline in steel, once the nation's major industry. In recent times, Luxembourg has developed into an active member of the European governing bodies, building on its reputation as having been one of the European Union's architects. Luxembourg is a staunch defender of the rights of small states within the Union.

Blessed is the name of our God who is mindful of this people as we worship the Prince of Peace in faith and joy.

Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants 163:2a
Jesus Christ, the embodiment of God’s shalom, invites all people to come and receive divine peace in the midst of the difficult questions and struggles of life. Follow Christ in the way that leads to God’s peace and discover the blessings of all of the dimensions of salvation.

Prayer for Peace by Nancylee Pfeiffer, Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania

  A Psalm of Peace
Some say that Peace is just a dream.
A promise from God to the human family.
We can keep that promise close to heart, or throw it to the wind.
If all the dreamers of the world were focused to this cause,
I'm sure our dream could change to Word, the same as the Son of God.
With peace, and love, and charity, and an outstretched hand, humankind
could live with Peace throughout all lands.

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate.
We thank you, God, for all the blessings of this life. We thank you for friends, family, and those who give us love and meaning to our lives.
The People Pray in Silence
We confess to you our shortcomings. In your compassion forgive our sins, and teach us listen for your guidance as we seek to do your will.
The People Pray in Silence
We pray for the nations of the world, and in particular on this day the nation of Luxembourg. May they know peace.
The People Pray in Silence
We pray for the just and equitable use of the resources of your earth. May all humanity exercise wise stewardship over everything in their care.
The People Pray in Silence
We pray for all those who are oppressed by poverty, disease, exploitation, prejudice, and those who are in any other way denied their full worth as your children. We pray for all people in the pursuit of their daily lives. May they pursue peace and joyfully celebrate the present day.
The People Pray in Silence
Let us pray now for the special concerns and needs of those gathered here this day.
The People Pray in Silence
Please use this space to pray for any current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
The People Pray in Silence
Hear our prayer, O God. Today we offer ourselves as instruments of your peace. Amen.

Sending Forth
We conclude our service today with ministry of music. We invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for as long as you may wish.

May the God of peace, of glory, and righteousness, keep us to fulfill our desires to be peacemakers in the world. Amen.
