Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |

We greet you in the name of the
Prince of Peace who calls us here to pray for peace. Thank you for
coming here to worship with us. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the
pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition,
each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Lithuania in our prayers. Located in
Eastern Europe, Lithuania became the first of the Soviet republics to
declare its independence on March 11, 1990, but this proclamation was
not generally recognized until September of 1991. The last Russian
troops withdrew in 1993. Lithuania subsequently restructured its economy
for integration into Western European institutions; it joined both NATO
and the European Union in the spring of 2004. A deeply religious nation,
predominantly Roman Catholic, Lithuania shares cultural ties with
Poland.
We come to this sacred place today to consider the needs of the world,
our country, communities and homes. Be still and let the Spirit of Peace
envelop your mind as you worship with us. Thank you for your presence. |

| Scripture Reading: Alma 21:132 134, Book of
Mormon |
| |
And Moroni was a strong and a mighty man;
he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight
in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of
his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery; yea, a man whose
heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God, for the many privileges
and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor
exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people; yea, and he was a
man who was firm in the faith of Christ. |

Prayer for Peace by Carolyn McCrary,
Pensacola, Florida |

Our Heavenly Parent,
In quietness we come to pray and ask for your presence in our daily
world. We ask for peace, that we might find our way and make this a
better world. Our prayer is for love, friendship and care. Help us that
we might be able to help your children all over the world.
We give you thanks for all the blessings you have given us; a place of
worship, food, shelter, and clothing, family, friends, and loved ones.
Our Heavenly Father, we ask for your guidance and love to strengthen us.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
We give thanks to you, Lord God, and praise your mighty
works of peace. We thank you for our many blessings this day and pray
that your Holy Spirit will be with us as we seek to know and do your
will. |
| The People Pray in Silence |

We confess to you our shortcomings. In your compassion forgive us our
sins as we strive to do our very best. We pray for the special needs of
those here gathered. Bless us, we humbly ask. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for the victims of hunger, fear, injustice and oppression. Also,
we pray for all who are in danger, who sorrow, are sick or friendless.
Be near to them we ask, and teach us to learn how to be your hands. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for this community, the nations, and the world, and especially
for the people of the nation of Lithuania. May they use their freedom
wisely and become a nation where peace and justice is known. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for all people in their daily life
and work: for our families, friends, and neighbors, and for those who
are alone. We pray for peace and unity among the leaders of religions
and nations and for all who work for justice, freedom, and peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
