Welcome today to this sacred
place. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we
pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Liechtenstein in our prayers.
Located in central Europe, the Principality of Liechtenstein was
established within the Holy Roman Empire in 1719; it became a sovereign
state in 1806. Because of liberal tax policies and banking laws, this
satellite of Switzerland counts more companies than citizens.
Prosperous, with no public debt, Liechtenstein has one of the world's
highest living standards.
We search for the peace above, and for God's plan for creation to be at
peace, for the peace of the whole world, for the well-being and unity of
all. And the Lord answers, "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in
the meekness of my Spirit and you shall have peace in me." |

| Scripture Reading: Luke 18:1-8 INT |
| |
Jesus told the disciples a parable on the
necessity of praying always and not losing heart: “once there was a
judge in a certain city who feared no one—not even God. A woman in that
city who had been widowed kept coming to the judge and saying, ‘Give me
legal protection from my opponent.’ For at time the judge refused, but
finally the judge thought, ‘I care little for God or people, but this
woman won’t leave me alone. I’d better give her the protection she
seeks, or she’ll keep coming and wear me out!” Jesus said, “Listen to
what this corrupt judge is saying. Won’t God then do justice to the
chosen who call out day and night? Will God delay long over them? I tell
you, God will give them swift justice. |

Prayer for Peace by Doris Tousley,

Heavenly Creator,
You, who are the source of life, love, and joy, warm our hearts with
your Holy Spirit. Make our spirits soar to new heights with love for all
people.
Enliven the souls of those who are depressed and sorrow for loved ones
who have gone on to the life beyond. May your peace and joy fill their
hearts knowing that you are near them and that their loved one is happy
and content in a new life.
We praise your name for all that you have provided for us. Make us aware
of your will for our lives. Bless the less fortunate with those things
which they have need of by making us aware of the need and the desire to
bless them. Give us your compassion and genuine concern for all of your
creation.
God of all nations, we praise your Holy Name. Bless us with your peace.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
O God of Peace, we praise you and give thanks for your
gentle, guiding calm in our lives. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We give thanks for safety, food, shelter, and a nation where we are free
to vote on issues of public interest. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Forgive our sinful ways, we humbly ask, and bring to our remembrance
those actions and deeds we should be engaged in to foster peace in the
world. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We especially remember Liechtenstein. May its citizens and leaders
follow peaceful ways and be an example to the rest of the world. Help
us, O God, to also be peaceful in all our dealings with other nations as
well as with our families and friends. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Heal us, we humbly pray, O God, that we may be instruments of peace in a
world where little peace is found. Amen. |
| |
| Sending Forth |
| |
We conclude our service today with ministry of music. We
invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for
as long as you may wish.
Let us go forth now and be God's people in our world, thereby making a
positive statement for peace in our time. Amen. |
