Dramatic Reading: John the Baptist
Come, Come and here my story.
It was not an unusual day. People were coming, some to
hear, some just to watch and others to become alive and active.
He came and I knew he would. I just didn’t know when.
"John", he said, “baptize me”. How could I?
I said, “No, I need to be baptized by you”. Jesus replied,
“John allow me to do this. It is right for us to accomplish wholeness in
virtue”. Love exuded from him. His appearance was meek but you could feel
his strength and peace. Why he was the embodiment of Peace!
What could I do? How could I refuse him? Could you refuse
him?
For the first time in many years I trembled as I stood with
someone and asked our God to bless this life and consecration.
Coming out of the water something began to stir. I felt a
warm and powerful presence coming from above us. It was so powerful that I
looked up to see what was happening.
And I saw, just as I can see you, a fire from heaven in the
shape of a dove coming down from the heavens and resting on him and surrounding
both of us. A voice broke the silence, saying, “This is my dear Son. In him I
have great pleasure.”
Have you been touched by the Lord’s spirit?
Have you felt its presence?
What did it feel like to you?
(Wait for some descriptive words from those watching.
If they are too shy offer some suggestions.)
Did it feel warm to you?
Does it feel uplifting?
Does your mind feel freed with new thoughts and new understanding?
(Acknowledge their expressions and then charge them.)
Go and bear witness that the Spirit of God has come to bear
witness of the Son and his tremendous love for all people.
Go and bear witness that the Spirit of God has come.
Feel the fire.
Go and find the fire.
Feel the fire.
