Team Training Kick-off
 |
| Summer ice-cream social at IHQ |
One of the blessings in working for Community of Christ is the
feeling of family we have towards one another. We live that out through our
involvement with teams. We seek to learn from each other and communicate
unreservedly with each other.
To help accomplish this more effectively, there will be a
kick-off training event on Wednesday, November 5, in the Continents room from
3:00-4:30 p.m. This event includes all employees of IHQ – both on and off-site.
This is the first of several training sessions for teams and team leaders
scheduled for December and January.
Come expecting a time filled with fun, action, snacks and
enthusiasm. If you have further questions, please contact one of the team
members: Lynda Roberson,
Helen Reynolds,
Cara Casey,
Pam Robison,
Poul Wilson, or
Kent Parker.

Called
to Serve at Historic Sites
There is a very significant need for volunteers to serve as tour
guides at Kirtland Temple in Kirtland, Ohio and at the Joseph Smith Historic
Site in Nauvoo, Illinois.
Training and housing are provided. Serve for two months to two
years or longer. Without additional help, we will soon be forced to close these
sacred and historic landmarks for several days each week.
For information on volunteering, contact
Lachlan Mackay at (440) 339-6398.

Community of Christ Health Ministries Association (HMA) will
hold its 6th annual Health and Spirituality Workshop, “Healing Self &
Community,” November 7–8 at Community of Christ Temple. The workshop is for
health professionals, pastoral ministers, caregivers, seminarians, hospice,
families, volunteers, and students with continuing education credit. For more,

New U.S. Disaster Relief Line
When natural disasters strike and communities are evacuated,
congregational pastors in affected areas often have difficulty communicating
with their members to determine their situation. At the request of mission
center officers affected by recent hurricanes, International Headquarters has
established a phone number U.S. members can call in case of disasters. This
provides callers a place to leave information about the situation in their area
and the assistance they may need.
We encourage local leaders to advise members of this service in
advance. The message is: After you are somewhere safe, call the Community of
Christ U.S. Disaster Relief Line at 1-800-825-2806, ext. 1212. Leave the
information requested and it will be passed on to those who can offer assistance
for your area.
Additional
Assistance for Haiti
Oblation aid continues to help members in Haiti recover from
hurricanes. An additional $30,000 was sent in early October after further
assessments confirmed many church members homes were damaged or destroyed. Their
animals and gardens were also washed away.
Thanks to the generous ongoing support of Oblation Fund
contributors, Community of Christ is able to respond as a worldwide church to
these needs in Haiti. Thank you for sharing this news with others, offering
prayers, and giving generously.
