Why Give Blood?

If you are asking yourself, “Why should I give?” consider this:

Because blood is separated into three components—red blood cells, platelets, and plasma—just one blood donation can help save up to three lives.

Most of us will need a blood transfusion at some point during our lives.

In the U.S. a blood transfusion is needed about every two seconds. And the demand continues to outpace the supply, in part because of today’s lifesaving medical techniques that require more blood transfusions.

Sixty percent of the general public is eligible to donate blood, but only 5 percent give.

The Red Cross Blood Service is counting on us. Your support of our blood drive can help save lives.
