All IHQ staff are invited to a meeting with the First Presidency on April 25 at 10:15 a.m. in the Continents Room followed by a pizza lunch. Patricia Kane, from the Schuster-Kane Alliance, will be sharing the results of the all-staff survey regarding the redesign. Volunteer Appreciation Week – April 16-20

Thank you for recognizing National Volunteer Appreciation Week. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the operations of the church and its worldwide mission. We hope you will encourage others to sense the call to offer service according to their interests and gifts. World Conference Follow-up – Save Darfur Coalition

Community of Christ will join the Save Darfur Coalition. In response to the resolution from the High Priest's Quorum at the 2007 World Conference, the First Presidency has determined to join with other organizations to raise awareness and to promote action in relation to the crisis in Darfur. More information will follow regarding specific steps the church plans to take.

Team Budgets

To facilitate smooth payment of expenses incurred by teams, please have a current authorized signature form on file with Fiscal Services. The team leader, one team member with knowledge of team budget, and the WMCT advocate are suggested as those authorized to sign for expenses. If you have questions about the authorized signature sheet, contact Phyllis Cole with Fiscal Services at ext. 1385.

Business Cards

The business card template is located at www.CofChrist.org/pr/BusinessCard.asp. Business card stock is located in the Auditorium mailroom or at the Temple dock with the paper supply and can be printed on local printers. If you need a large quantity of business cards (500 or more), that expense will need to be funded from a team budget and printing can be coordinated through Corporate CopyPrint.

Recommended Vacation Bible School Materials

Galilee By-the-Sea transports everyone—your children, their families, and your volunteers—to the shore where Jesus taught...healed...and shared new life with those who followed him.

Experience the Bible in a fresh, new way. And take your kids where they'll do more than hear about Jesus...they'll meet him. More information is available at http://www.grouppublishing.com/vbs/2007/vbs-GalileeNew/index.asp.

Quarterly Training for Volunteers on April 30

Volunteers are invited to attend Diversity Training with facilitator Cathi Cackler-Veazey on Monday, April 30 at one of two times: 10 a.m. to noon or 2 to 4 p.m. in the Temple Lecture Hall. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and enjoy fellowship with other IHQ volunteers!

Daily Prayer for Peace

Daily Prayer for Peace time has changed to 1 p.m. daily. During World Conference we experienced the power of community worship and discernment. There is great benefit for these experiences to continue through shared worship at the daily Prayer for Peace. World Church Leadership Council members are committed to attend when they are in town and will begin to schedule meeting times to follow the service. While attendance is voluntary, we believe the experience will allow us to continue to build unity and community.

Research Databases Available Free of Charge

Did you know the Temple library has access to databases like ProQuest, ATLA, FirstSearch, and BibleWorks7. These databases are available in the library and also through the church's web site, with the exception of BibleWorks7, at www.CofChrist.org/templeschool/library/database.asp.

Habitat for Humanity Project

All IHQ staff are encouraged to help with the completion of the home started during World Conference for Iris Hubbard. The church is granting 4 hours of compensated leave for staff to participate.

Help is still needed on April 26 and 27. Sign-up sheets are located in the Ministry Specialists suite. Contact Ken McLaughlin at ext. 2459 to sign up or for questions.

New Enrichment Group Names

The names of each enrichment group have been finalized.

  • Service Support Specialists
  • Ministry Support Specialists
  • World Church Leadership Council and Support

New Auditorium Bathrooms Openings

In consultation with staff working in the Auditorium, Facility Services has opened the men's restroom at floor 3½ southeast and the women's restroom at floor 3½ southwest. In exchange for opening these two restrooms, the women's restroom behind the assembly room stage and the men's restroom by the server room are now closed.

Postage Reminder

Please put postage on all personal mail that is placed in the outgoing mail.

New Media Policy

A new media contact policy has been added to the Staff Manual as number 217.

MEDIA CONTACTS

Responsibility for disseminating information to media outlets (e.g., newspaper, television, radio, etc.) lies primarily with the Media Relations team. The team develops press releases, responds to or forwards media representative’s requests for information, and regularly interacts with representatives of the media.

At International Headquarters, general media inquiries should be directed to the Media Relations team leader, Kendra Friend, ext. 3041. If a media representative contacts a staff member for an interview, the staff member should obtain some basic information from the reporter (questions provided on a form developed by the Media Relations team) and request permission from the First Presidency’s office before granting the interview.

The new policy and the information form can be found on the IHQ network at M:\Share\HQInfo\FORMS.

The rumors are true…

Jenn and Dave Killpack will welcome a new baby boy to their family around August 10. His two big sisters can hardly stand the wait. No names have been selected so we may have to sponsor a NewsPEACE contest for some assistance! Watch upcoming NewsPEACE editions for further details.
