for updated, orange Emergency Procedures arriving on your desk Monday, August
31. Risk Management has updated these procedures. Take time to read the card
and familiarize yourself with these details in case of emergency. Please keep
this card under your telephone on your desk and post extra copies in office work
rooms. Additional copies will be available in meeting areas through the
buildings.
Facilities Support Staff team recently completed CPR and
AED training. Independence Police Officer John Bullard met with the Facilities
Team to provide updated security information and answer questions about
providing a safe environment here at International Headquarters. Risk
Management will conduct fire drills in the future so IHQ staff is familiar with
this particular procedure.
Flex
Hours
Effective Tuesday, September 8, we will resume regular work
schedules at IHQ. We hope the summer flex schedule for administrative
assistants allowed additional time with friends and families for fun and
relaxation.
Store Hours
The Temple Bookstore will begin new operating hours on
Tuesday, September 8. The store will be open on Mondays from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
and Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store is closed on
Sundays and each day from 1:00 to 1:30 in observance of the Daily Prayer for
Peace.

Updates
IHQ welcomes Dale Hollis to the Technology Support
Team as the new Application Specialist. He comes to us from BalancePoint of
Kansas City where he was an Information Systems Manager. He has a wide host of
experience in the Information Technology world as well as experience with
Business Accounting. Dale, his wife Melinda, and their two daughters live in
Independence. Dale’s office is located with the Technology Support Team -
Auditorium, 3rd floor south.
We also welcome Irene Zuber back to IHQ. Irene
accepted the part-time Customer Service Associate position. You’ll find her
smiling face at the Temple reception desk and around IHQ. Irene previously
worked in Temple School, assisted with event registration, and helped with
Membership Records.
IHQ staff says thank you and wishes all the best to Barb
Walden, Historic Sites Specialist in Kirtland, as she moves with her husband
to Kentucky in September. Ron Romig is the new Historic Sites Specialist
in Kirtland. He and his wife, Anne, are moving to Kirtland, Ohio, this
weekend. We wish them all safe travels.

Moving, Moving – Moved!
Wim van Klinken and Susan Naylor moved to the
Temple, second floor across from the First Presidency’s suite.
Jennifer Wright moves on Tuesday, September 1, to
the Customer & Member Services Team suite, Auditorium 401 (northeast corner).
Greg Savage, Estate and Financial Planning, plans to
move to an office in the Communications suite in the Temple, first floor, next
to the mailroom.
Cara Casey moved to the Facilities suite located in
the Auditorium, first floor.
Stop by and welcome these staff members to their new
locations.
Staff - Register for Peace Colloquy by September 25 and Save!
“Justice for Women, Dignity for All” is the theme of the
2009 Peace Colloquy on October 23-25 at the Temple.
International Headquarters
staff and volunteers receive a 50% discount on registration and some are
eligible for full reimbursement. For details, see World Church event policy
#226 in the Staff Manual or the initial policy announcement at

Regular registration fees for
the weekend are $20 for children, $25 for youth retreat and students, and $85
for adults (after September 25, add $10).
Prepare on Friday, October 23, with the Peace Colloquy Day
of Prayer from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Camp Doniphan. The fee is $35 (after
September 25, $45).
This year’s Colloquy also includes a retreat especially
programmed for junior and senior high youth. Housing will be provided in area
congregations. All meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will be included.

New York Polyphony
is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the finest classical vocal ensembles
of a new generation. Fusing elegant vocalism with expert ensemble singing, the
four men deliver dynamic, historically informed performances in a range of
styles. From the simplicity of plainchant to the dense chromaticism of
contemporary works, the New York Polyphony sound is strong, unified and
distinctive. This concert is co-sponsored with Music Arts Institute, whose
children's choir, The Young MAIstersingers, will participate in this
unforgettable performance.
