connecting the Community of Christ staff community

Welcome to New Staff

  • Mica Wiemann is the executive assistant to the director of International Headquarters. Part of Mica’s responsibilities will include leadership of the Space Allocation Team and the Records Management Team, and IHQ office manager.

  • Rachel Meisinger is an administrative specialist on the Human Resource Ministries Team. She comes to us from Soave Automotive Enterprises where her responsibilities included accounts payable and management of a fleet account.

Office Closing

International Headquarters will be closed on Monday, February 18, in observance of President’s Day (US).

“Keep your Fork, There’s Pie!”

Join us for a little slice of heaven on Thursday, February 21, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. in the Auditorium’s Lower Assembly Room to celebrate and fellowship together over a piece of pie.

We need twelve people who would be willing to bring a pie and their recipe to share. Start looking through those recipes…cherry, apple, rhubarb, lemon meringue, sugar free, chocolate, the list is endless! There will be something for everyone and you won’t want to miss out!

Contact Susan Naylor at snaylor@CofChrist.org or ext. 3045 to bring a pie or volunteer to set up right before the event.

International Headquarters Staff Survey

As announced in the January e-group meetings this survey is a tool to help understand and evaluate our work environment and culture. To take the anonymous survey, visit www.odtoolsplus.com and enter the pass code 7517JNGX2128JPU. Please take about 15 minutes and complete the survey before Friday, February 15. Results will be shared in March.

Temple Sanctuary Renovation

Renovation projects in the Temple Sanctuary and Worshiper's Path will enhance the Temple experience. To see samples of new carpet and tile that are part of the project, visit room 2004 in Shalom Place in the Temple. Read more about the project at www.CofChrist.org/news/2007/dec07/temple.asp.

New tile is being installed throughout the main floor of the Temple sanctuary.

Power and Light for Young Kids

Power & Light: Lessons for Young Kids is now available for download at www.CofChrist.org/onlineresources/PowerLight/. The lessons compliment the lectionary cycle and can be used in a variety of settings. The files are listed by theme and title with a separate link to each lesson to make downloading easier and faster.

Free Organ Recital by Graceland Professor

David Pickering, assistant professor of music at Graceland University, will perform a free organ recital in the Auditorium on Sunday, March 9, at 3 p.m. Dr. Pickering will play César Franck's Trois Pièces and Charles-Marie Widor's Fifth Symphony. Visit the Dome and Spire website for more information about Dr. Pickering.

Observing the Lenten Season

On Ash Wednesday the Co-missioned Pastors (Cohort 3) met in the Temple Chapel to begin the Lenten season by worshiping together. As a part of that service, each pastor identified something they were going to entrust to God and placed it in a red urn. During the final moments of the worship, the urn was placed in the Japanese garden to remain there throughout Lent. When you have opportunity, you can view the red urn in the garden.
