Choir Audition:

• Tuesday, September 14 - 5-8 p.m.
• Thursday, September 16 - 5-8 p.m.

Audition requirements include one solo song of any style, sightreading and vocalizing, and selections (singer's voice part) from the following Messiah choruses:

1. And the Glory of the Lord - measures 1-83
2. Since by Man Came Death - measures 1-16
3. Worthy Is the Lamb - measures 24-39 (beginning with "blessing and honor" section)
4. Hallelujah - measures 1-32

Auditions are 10 minutes long and are scheduled by appointment. Call 816/833-1000, ext. 2324, to schedule an audition. An accompanist will be provided. Voice quality for the Baroque style and musical aptitude are additional qualifications.

Rehearsal Schedule:

Rehearsals will be on Tuesday except as noted.

September 21, 28 - 7:00-9:30 p.m.
October 5, 12, 19, 26 - 7:00-9:30 p.m.
November 2, 9, 16 - 7:00-9:30 p.m.
Monday, November 22 - 7:00-9:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 23 - 7:00-10:00 p.m. (choir with orchestra)
Friday, November 26 - 7:00-10:00 p.m. (dress rehearsal)
Saturday, November 27 - 8:00-10:30 p.m. (Choir meets at 7:00 in the Lower Auditorium Dining Room)

All rehearsals are CLOSED. Please do not bring your children to rehearsals. Adult family members and/or friends may sit in on rehearsals only with prior permission. Call 816/833-1000, ext.2363 or e-mail messiahchoir@CofChrist.org.

PERFORMANCE DRESS:

Women will wear all-black formals this year. If you have sung with us in the past, the top from your dress will work well; please purchase or make a long black skirt to wear with it. If you need a new dress, any long-sleeved, long-length black dress will be fine. More information will be available at the first rehearsal.

Men will wear tuxedos.  Bill Horn at City Nights Formal Wear will handle the tux rental and sales at the rehearsals.  Tux rental will run about $40.00.

SCORES:  The Independence Messiah Choir uses the Novello/Watkins Shaw edition of Messiah bound in black. These will be available at the first rehearsal for around $30.00.
