Ministry by Older Adults
for others in your congregation
- Tutoring: Older adults have much to share with children and youth in tutoring.
- Calling: All types of calling, hospital visits, nursing home visits, evangelism, membership renewal and stewardship can be done.
- Foster Grandparents: Older adults can share with youth and children, (ideal for children having no extended
families in the area).
- Living History: Provide the opportunity for older adults to share with the church by recording on tape, writing, videotaping their life story and/or memories of the past.
- Multigenerational Study Groups: These are designed to bring older adults, youth, young adults, and young families together in the study of faith and life issues.
- Teaching And Leading: Older adults can teach and share their faith in class/group activities. They can hold key leadership positions and serve on committees of the church/community.
- Mentoring Other Generations: Match skills and needs. Older adults may role model successful aging for younger adults.
- Prayer Ministry: Older adults can help provide for the religious nurturing of themselves and others by participating in teaching and worship and private prayer on behalf of others.
- Presence: Older adults provide the gift of their presence as they give through their concern and smiles to others.
