Earth Stewardship Team

The Earth Stewardship Team focuses on issues of environmental stewardship and development and guide, educate, and engage us in the ongoing stewardship of Earth’s resources.

The Earth Stewardship Team was established as a standing committee by World Conference action in 1992 (enabling legislation WCR 1224) to focus on issues of environment and development and to give guidance to the church.

Team Priorities 2019-2023

The Earth Stewardship Team was established as a standing committee by World Conference action in 2016 (WCR 1224) to focus on issues of environmental stewardship and development and to guide, educate, and engage members and friends of Community of Christ in the ongoing stewardship of Earth’s resources. This mission is to be accomplished by presenting information, advocacy, conservation and preservation measures, networks, and media resources that address environmental issues and concerns. Those concerns identify issues on individual, congregational, community, and global levels. Concerns include global poverty, deforestation, ocean health, soil degradation, energy, clean air, economics, climate issues, preservation of flora and fauna, and access to healthy food and clean water.
